The Townsville Water Ski Club Site

The river is a general public access river that works on a council managed booking system, the TWSC has booked the entire river out for the two weeks prior and a few days after the event; this allows the club to place the required infrastructure into the river without fear of it becoming damaged.

There will be two sites operating across the Nationals site; the Slalom will be in front of the Clubhouse at Loam Island, this is approximately 2.5 kms upstream from the Jump and Tricks area which is based in front of the Riverway community entertainment facility.

You will be able to walk between the sites via the maintained walking trails, or you can drive between the sites as there will be ample parking at both locations.

The sites are based approximately 15 kms from the city centre; Townsville is an extremely easy city to get around with excellent roads and signage. There is a public bus system (link attached) that can also assist those that may wish to utilise the buses.

Training / Acclimatisation

The Slalom, Jump and Trick courses will initially, only be available for training and acclimatisation in the lead up to the tournament, through state representatives. All bookings will be managed by the pre event booking sheets and water access will be allocated on a first in/ paid up, first served basis. All details and contacts are contained on the attached information sheets.

Official training will be available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 18-20/4/2011.
Bookings taken by state first, then if space available by individuals.

Familiarisation at Loam Island and Riverway Complex:
- Loam Island 8.00am - 12.00pm and 12.30pm - 5.30pm for Slalom
- Riverway Complex - 8.00am - 12.00pm and 12.30 - 5.30pm for Jump and Trick

Rates for Training / Acclimatisation - $200 per hour or part thereof;

Each state will need to provide their own observer and dock marshal.

Practice slalom and tricks will be available at Loam Island on Monday to Thursday 11-14/4/11
Rates and advance bookings as above. Driver is included however an observer will need to be provided.

Please be aware all booking confirmations are required to be paid in full by 25^th February 2011 to secure your time slot, payments not made by this date will not be guaranteed a time slot. Welcome Function

The Welcoming Function will be at the Riverway Complex, entertainment food and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided with alcohol available to purchase. The night is set to have some excellent entertainment after the formalities have been completed and will set the scene leading into the tournament.

You’re sure to see some fireworks and a spectacular night of activities whilst tasting the local cuisine, be sure not to miss the night.

Cost per Ticket: $30 per Head Adults and $15 per head for Children

There is a discounted cost per ticket if pre-paid prior to 18^th of February 2011

@ $25 per Head Adults and $10 per head for Children

A Special Ceremonial Day

Monday the 25^th will be the finals day of the Tournament; this date is also ANZAC Day. With Townsville being a Garrison City with a large percentage of our population being defence force personnel we have arranged a bugler to attend and mark this special day with a sign of respect from the skiers. It would be appreciated if everyone could attend to show the support of the sport and respect of our Anzac’s. We will advise every one of the specific timing of the ceremony; noting that it will be prior to any events occurring on the day.

Closing Presentation Night

This will be a very special night the likes of which have never been seen at Nationals previously. Waterski Qld and Townsville Waterski Club have gone to the extremes to deliver a night to remember, which will include 5 star food, drink, entertainment and atmosphere. The aim here is to get the presentations completed and allow everyone to celebrate their achievements of the year and of the Tournament.

Our Night will be held at Jupiter’s Hotel and Casino commencing on the Lawns of the Casino on the Pool terrace looking out across Cleveland bay toward Magnetic Island. Whilst also taking in the lights of the Townsville Foreshore and strand areas; included in the ticket cost will be 1 hour of pre- dinner drinks and platters of hors d'oeuvres for you to enjoy.

We follow the pre-dinner drinks by moving into the Grand Ball Room where the ballroom will be set up with Dining Tables to seat up to 400 people. We have a large stage area where the band will be playing before the formal presentations. After which the band returns to the stage to ensure a fantastic atmosphere and opportunity for everyone to relax and enjoy the night. We are hopeful of securing Townsville’s own former Miss Universe Australia to host the evening. The meal is a 5 star buffet style with 2 hours of drinks (beer, wines and soft drinks), All under 18 guests accommodated with an unlimited soft drinks package.
